2 Botulinum toxins type A are commercialised in UK.
BOTOX manufactured by Allergan in a vial of 100 units, Vistabel manufactured by Allergan in a 50 units vial and DYSPORT manufactured by Ipsen in a vial of 500 units . The units of Botox and Dysport are not equivalent; 1 unit of Botox is equivalent to 3 units of Dysport. The name Botox is also used incorrectly as a generic abbreviation to cover the different Botulinum toxins.
1 Botulinum toxin type B
NEUROBLOC is manufactured by Elan Pharma in a vial of 5000 and 10000 units and can be used when patients become resistant to type A toxin. |
